Music Ministry

“I will sing to the Lord because he has dealt bountifully with me.” Psalm 13:6

Music is an integral part of worship at First Armenian Church.  Our congregation sings together joyfully every Sunday in a mix of traditional protestant hymns, Armenian sharagans, and contemporary songs.  Generations of children learn their first Christian songs in Sunday School Chapel - synchronized movements and fun included.  Sunday night Youth Group meetings raise the roof with praise songs accompanied by guitars and drums.

We also enjoy a long choir tradition.  Under the guidance of Musical Director Levon Hovsepian, the choir strives to present selections that support the Pastor’s message and enhance the Sunday service. An extensive library that spans several centuries of church music allows various selections and styles to be performed throughout the year.    Religious holidays also provide the opportunity for rich musical experiences.  Our brass and reed ensemble performs during special holidays. The fellowship that comes from praising God together through music elevates the worship service for all involved.

Also, as part of the choir, members add to their repertoire and skill through practice and collaboration. Ideas for instrumental accompaniment, new music to perform, and new members to sing with us are always welcome.  Have you sung in a choir or chorus, studied an instrument, or been told you have a ‘nice’ singing voice at some time in your life? If so, you would likely enjoy the challenge and sociability of the choir.    Not sure?  Attend a rehearsal or two; no audition is ever required. Please feel free to contact the Director or any choir member after the church service for more information.
